Hempsters...

Hello everyone. So, i think that I figured it out. Friday's will be blog day-for sure. yeah, sorry for the missed weeks and whatever it has been. I am enjoying teaching classes- and have received several orders for anklets and necklaces before August. Was not able to submit jewelry before the deadline (didn't want to rush anything), but will be sending in more to other publications such as Glamour, Bead & Button, and I am also looking for other magazines that I have not thought of previously.

The Artisans fair at the ABQ Peace and Justice center went great. Met lots of new people and made some sales. I hope that all are enjoying the works or art and jewelry that I make. The next appearance will be on August 8th, and will continue every second Saturday of every month. Cheers to you all.

almost a month, oh my...

Sorry. yep, been super busy these past few weeks. Happy 4th of July for those in the U.S. The pride parade was decent. lots of people and fun times. After that happened, I moved full swing into getting my teaching activities going on. Now I am the art instructor for Family Community centers in Albuquerque. Nice huh. So, was working on that, and I am the webmaster for a few other site... needless to say I will not be finishing mine when I thought and hoped that I would... but all is well.

Classes are going great so far- our first project was a macrame butterfly and teaching them overhand and underhand knots. next week we start on a bracelet, then adding beads. I'm excited. So, I will try once again to make this a twice weekly blog. As always, thanks to everyone for their support.

Up & Running

My exhibit at the Main Library in Downtown Albuquerque is up and running. So exciting!! So, my first piece- Inventory #001 is on display as well as The series that I had completed. Those are "Sunrise & Moonlight," "Smoke & Fire," and the most recent completion "Lime Green Forest." Also on display are a few of my hanging pieces and more contemporary pieces such as "Spoonful of Hemp."

Anyone who is in the New Mexico area in the next month should make a stop in and sign the guestbook. Thanks again for everyone's support. Now its time to gear up for the ABQ Pride weekend. Here's to hoping that I sell everything. Also, new music is on the way.

A Well needed VACATION-

Yep, I am on vacation. Not only for my birthday weekend, but also to remain sane before the exhibit. I must say, it is great to decide to go on vacation and not have to put in a two week notice or get approval from anyone.

I will return on Tuesday when I have meetings with gallery owners, and newspaper interviews. During this time, I will post some new pictures of some necklaces, and will update the music playlist. Any suggestions?

Busy weeks of prep!

Hey there. Sorry for the missed days, what can I say? So... The gallery review the not go as well as I would have hoped. But all things happen for a reason, right? Moving on- The ABQ Pride parade and fair are almost here, and I am still preparing for my exhibit. I am almost finished with the moss agate series that I had designed to be included in the exhibit, bringing my total number of necklace series to three (3). I must say that I have enjoyed making this grouping very much, and am thinking of duplicating the concept with maybe Jade, Quartz, or some Jasper's. oh, that sounds really exciting, 5 different centerpieces of jasper within a series? uhm.

Lots of people have been ordering custom necklaces from me, and I would like to publicly thank you again for your business and interest. I just dropped off a custom necklace for a husband's anniversary gift to his wife (Pictures will be posted after the anniversary date). Also, I have the centerpiece for my NEW necklace once this first round of events is complete as a gift to myself, and I also have my uncles necklaces ready to be started. Hopefully I will have theirs finished before the reception at the Main Library on June 2 from 4:30 to 6:30.

Well, there are most of the updates. Hope all are well and thanks again for visiting.

Peace & Justice Artistian Fair

Had a fab time. Sold a couple of pieces. Made a few connections that were not yet established. A very good beginning to the 2009 season. Now I am semi-finished till the 18th of May, when I have my juried gallery review and have to finish prep for the ABQ pride parade. I took some pictures of the display set-up I did for todays event at the Center for Peace and Justice, but fear that the resolution is too small to look good online. But regardless, I will post them once I find the USB cord that connects this camera to the computer. Hope that everyone that is visiting is enjoying the content on this blog, and hope to meet ya'll later.

Following The Week

You know, no matter what day of the week it is there are always things to do. Agenda's are great, and calendars work if you pay attention and keep up with a to-do list. Well, have I got a lot to start as well as a lot to finish. Thursday is already here, and I still have inventory to complete. Along with that, I am making sure that I inform members of the press what events are happening. I write that because the marketing and advertising portion of a vast majority of businesses are being cut and not paid much attention to. Why... because they think that they can stop informing people that they are around in the hopes that people remember them when they are buying and consuming (which we all love to do.) It becomes that much more difficult to stay on top of all of the efforts being made when you are a small business owner. My advice to those who are struggling: Laugh, and keep going. Laugh and the "no's" people give to you, and never let that put you down, or make you want to quit. It's just a reminder that you have more work to do so buckle up and keep going.

Well, updates for the blog... if you haven't noticed a new song is playing currently. My playlist has been updated and begins with Orbital, one of my all time favorites and followed by a little Crystal Method. I listen to mostly techno, ambiant, trace, and lounge music, but don't be surprised when Bird, Charlie Parker, and Duke E. get on here.

Don't forget that you will be able to see me on May 9th at the Albuquerque Peace and Justice Center between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

To Success...

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." -Albert Einstein . I refer to this quote many times, but especially recently due to the huge strides that are being made for my jewelry company. I hope that other entrepreneur's that are out and hustling, grinding, trying to make a name for themselves remember that they will too succeed. Here is a toast to success! Cheers

Preparing and double checking...

Greetings. For everyone who would like to see the dailies of my doings, in the future this would be the first place to see the new necklaces and bracelets before they hit the website for purchase. For today I just finished a necklace with howlite, silverleaf, and white cat's eye along with a 25mm howlite centerpiece donut. oh boy, did I have a tough time with this one, only cause I spent 2 hours reaming a glass bead. But it is finished, cataloged, and placed in the inventory as #129. Still hard to believe that I have reached this far. Really, I've made probably 150 necklaces but some of them were gifts (you know who you are.) Well, that's what was done so far today. Now, I am going to design my business cards, update calendars, finish my Op-ed piece that I am sending to the national news affiliates, and chat on Facebook for a while.

The Jams I groove to...

Are the jams playing at the bottom of this blog. Welcome the newest addition to my blog, my playlist... incorporating the music and tunes that I listen to while I make the jewelry for poeticera. I've always had a special bond with the aspects that music brings to ones creative ability, but now... Oh my, you can edit and add tracks that you, yourself would like to listen to while you browse the blog and keep up with the newest creations that I make. So, tell me what you think, start to follow the blog, and let me know if this is something I should bring when the website is launched. Cheers, and thanks again for everyone visiting.

Teaming Up With Bentley Glass

Glass, glass, glass. I love glass and am happy to announce that Poeticera has teamed up with Bentley Custom Glass, located in Downtown Albuquerque. I have always had a connection with Glass blowers to provide centerpieces, and beads - but now I have lots more. Most of the centerpieces that are used for necklaces that are after inventory #119, will come from Bentley if they are infact a glass centerpiece. ooh, exciting.

Strings and Things -

Today, I have noticed the interest of the work I do therefore, I thought that I would create a blog for Poeticera. I am curently rebuilding the website, and have placed an events list on www.geocities.com/poeticera . I am also making more pieces for my inventory so I will have enough for the next two month's, finishing up on clients custom orders, and preparing for my Jewelry Exhibit. What fun is there owning your own business if you can't do what you want from day to day. Tomorrow, I am putting my buyer hat on and visiting the Pow-wow's out here. !Sweet.
